Privacy policy — ADC Tech Marine

Who is responsible.

The data controller is Alessio De Carne, trading as ADC Tech Marine. For any question or request about your data, write to adctechmarine@gmail.com.

Data you enter.

Account: email, first name, last name, phone (optional), language. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email from them and, if you allow it, your name; with Apple the email may be a relay address.
Organization: company name, type of business, declared number of boats, plan.
Boats and engines: name, type, brand, model, year, engine hours.
Maintenance and history: services, dates, hours, notes, amounts and the name of whoever performed or approved the service.
Costs, revenue and trips: amounts, categories, descriptions, suppliers, dates and times, fuel, crew and skipper (free text).
Safety equipment and insurance: type, name, serial number, expiry dates, insurer and policy number.
Contacts: name, email and phone of people you add, for example a mechanic or a boatyard. Add them only if you are entitled to.
Mechanic profile: display name, area, city, postcode, phone, email and description. If you choose to make it public, other app users can see it.
Reviews: rating and comment, tied to an approved service.

Data collected automatically.

App usage events (app opened, sign-up completed, QR used), with app version and platform, tied to your account. They tell us whether the app works.
Plancia errors: page, error message, version and browser.
Your device token for push notifications, if you allow them.
The camera is used only to read a boat’s QR code: no image is stored or sent.

We do not collect your location, we do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. A copy of your data stays on your phone so the app works without a connection: it is deleted when you uninstall the app. The Plancia stores only your sign-in session and chosen theme in the browser. The ALFA black box is not on sale yet: when it is, this page will say what data it collects.

Why we use it.

To provide the service (account, boats, deadlines, history, Plancia, link with the mechanic): performance of the contract.
Push notifications: your consent, which you withdraw from your phone settings.
Security, bug fixing, internal usage statistics and backups: our legitimate interest in running the service and not losing data.
The name of whoever signed a service stays in the boat’s history: the legitimate interest of the owner, and of whoever buys the boat, in a reliable history.
Legal obligations, where they apply.

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we rely on.

To run the service we rely on providers that process data on our behalf, only for the stated purpose:

database, sign-in and server functions, with servers in the European Union, in Frankfurt;
sign-in with Apple or Google, if you choose one of them;
delivery of push notifications to your phone;
sending service emails (account confirmation, password reset, internal alerts);
hosting of this site and the Plancia, with technical request logs;
encrypted database backups;
email and forwarding of this site’s forms;
site statistics, only with your consent (see the cookie policy);
up to app version 1.0.11, the typeface downloaded on first launch.

Push notifications.

If you allow notifications, the app registers a device token with the provider that delivers notifications, which passes them on through the operating system’s push service. We send only the token and a generic message, for example “A due date needs attention”: no boat names, no personal names, no amounts. Details are visible only in the app, after you sign in. The token is deleted when you sign out or when it is no longer valid. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone settings.

Data outside the European Union.

The database is in the European Union, in Frankfurt. Some of the providers listed above are based, or owned by groups based, outside the EU and may process data outside the EU. In those cases the transfer relies on GDPR safeguards: a European Commission adequacy decision, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses. On request we will tell you which providers we use and under which safeguards.

How long we keep it.

App and Plancia data: as long as your account exists.
If you delete your account from the app (Settings), we immediately delete the account, the organization if you are its only member, its boats with all related data, usage events and notification tokens.
What remains, no longer linked to your account: the name under which you signed, proposed or approved a service on someone else’s boat, because it is part of that boat’s history; the text of reviews you wrote.
Backups: up to 12 months, then overwritten.
Plancia errors: 90 days. Google Analytics on this site: 14 months.
Messages from this site’s forms: as long as needed to reply and manage the relationship.

Your rights.

You can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, receive it in a readable format, object to processing based on legitimate interest and withdraw any consent you gave. Much of this you can do yourself: edit your data in the app, export the history as a PDF, delete your account from Settings. For everything else write to adctechmarine@gmail.com: we reply within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or with the authority in your country.

Children.

ALFA is designed for boat owners and businesses and is not intended for anyone under 16.

Security.

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), the database keeps each organization’s data apart with its own access rules, and since 14 October 2026 backups are encrypted. No system is one hundred percent secure: if a breach affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.

Changes.

When this notice changes, we update the date below. For significant changes we notify you in the app or by email.
